Jodie Grillmeier, a Naarm (Melbourne)-based fine Art photographer with a Master of Fines Arts from RMIT University (2024) whose work engages with humanity’s relationship with animals and the environment. She addresses themes of animal loss, environmental challenges, and the cultural practices of zoos, museums, and taxidermy. Her photography highlights the realtionships between culture, history, and conservation, inviting viewers to reconsider the how humanity connect with the natural world.
Jodie volunteers with Vets for Compassion and the Healesville Sanctuary Wildlife Hospital, where she assists with wildlife care and documents the rescue process through photography.
Jodie’s work has been recognized in the Australian Photography Awards (2021), Olive Cotton Portrait Prize (2013, 2015), Photo 2024: ‘Edge of Elsewhere’ at Glen Eira Gallery.
